Prepare a plumbing enquiry

A few useful observations, without assuming a diagnosis.

Leak or dampness

Note where water appears and whether it is continuous or linked to fixture use. An overall view and a connection detail help if you can take photos safely.

Mention active damage at the beginning of the call. Do not dismantle a pipe to complete the description, and keep electrical appliances away from water.

Drain or water heater

For a drain, specify whether one or several fixtures are affected, as well as noises or odours observed. Mention products already used; do not mix them.

For a water heater, keep its reference accessible and explain what changed: less hot water, noise or a visible leak. Do not open equipment to identify the cause.

Renovation project

Specify fixtures to replace and whether their locations will change. Measurements, access and already-planned work help prepare the next questions.

Ask what information is missing and how the terms of the work will be clarified for your situation.
